Cosma Joy is…
a 24 year old German-British singer songwriter from Munich, crafting emotionally rich Sad Girl Indie Pop, infused with elements of folk, jazz and rock. Raised in a creative home where music, art, poetry and film were ever-present, she began writing songs at age 11 and developed a distinctive sound characterized by an intimate yet powerful voice, that delivers honest, often autobiographical lyrics touching on feminism, healing, and coming of age.
At 16, she recorded her first acoustic EP, “Baby I’m A Dreamer”, and at 17 she released a feminist video project titled “At Seventeen – A Janis Ian Cover”, which discusses issues around objectification. The same year, she opened for artists such as Tom Odell and Tom Walker, and performed at the Puls Festival with the Münchner Rundfunk Orchester, after MINE arranged her songs for the ensemble. This was followed by several support tours, including for The Slow Show and Bruckner, as well as performances at events such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, C/O Pop, Superbloom, and Reeperbahn Festival.
Her debut EP, “Boy Boredom”, released in 2022, features five tracks, each accompanied by a music video directed by her sister Masha Mollenhauer. The EP’s sound has been described as a fusion of indie dream soul and pop and explores themes of loneliness and independence.
